Yes! Parents and grandparents are welcome to stay and watch the class on the TV monitor in the lobby. For the safety of our dancers, and to minimize distractions during classes, we don’t allow parents in the dance studios, however, we have high definition cameras in each studio which broadcast to our TV monitor in the lobby.

Our dance studios are both equipped with a professional floating sprung floor, 7 foot tall mirrors, height-adjustable barres that fold out from the walls, high definition cameras, and a pull down projector screen.

Our waiting area has comfy seating with charge ports for both android and apple devices, cubbies for personal belongings, and a high definition screen broadcasting a live feed from each studio, water and healthy snacks, a homework area with charging ports, and books/toys for younger siblings.

Performing gives dancers something big to work towards, and they work hard for months learning new skills, refining technique, and mastering choreography. A performance represents the culmination of all that hard work and dedication.

Being on the stage with all eyes on you can feel scary, and it often forces dancers to step out of their comfort zone and trust in themselves and their abilities. The increase in confidence and self-esteem we see in dancers after a performance is life-changing.

Performances are not required, however we really hope you’ll give it a try! You may just find that you love it!

Absolutely! Our 2 for $20 program allows your dancer to try out two classes before signing up. It can be the same class taken two weeks in a row, or two different classes/styles of dance, each taken one time. The cost is $20, and that includes both classes plus a studio t-shirt. (Does not apply to summer programming)

Many of our classes are recorded and available to dancers who miss class or would like to continue to work at home on the technique and/or choreography taught during the class. If your dancer misses a class, please ask us for the video link, so they can take their class from home.

For details, please see our Cancellation and Refund Policy.

Although we don’t like to, occasionally circumstances may necessitate that we cancel a class. Should that happen, your dancer may choose a different class for his/her age/ability the same week or the following week. Please let us know which makeup class your dancer will attend. Class cancellation notifications will be sent out via email and social media posts.

Additionally, our smaller studio has open dance hours where dancers may come into the studio to practice technique or choreography or watch their makeup class using our video library.

For details, please see our Cancellation and Refund Policy.

Nope, most parents prefer to drop their child(ren) off, and use that time for running errands or other things.

Dance, whether recreational or professional, is an activity typically requiring a wide range of movements that often includes jumping and landing. Over time, these movements may adversely affect the joints, bones and muscles of the body if the wrong kind of flooring is installed.

A sprung dance floor can reduce the impact of these movements and provide protection against common dance injuries. This can be especially important for young dancers, whose bones are still developing.  A sprung floor provides additional shock absorption, as compared to a traditional dance floor, by having a slight give to the surface when a dancer lands on the floor.

The sprung floor rests or ‘floats’ on high density foam, which serves as a shock absorber when a dancer jumps and lands on the floor. This high density foam is topped with crossed layers of plywood or hardwood, and then topped with a surface covering specifically designed for dance. The sprung floor allows some of the shock waves that would have been transmitted to the joints of a dancer’s body to instead be absorbed by the floor, so the dancer stays safe, strong and healthy.

A good dance floor instills confidence in dancers to give full expression to their creativity, safe in the knowledge that the dance floor will offer a consistent response.

Oregon Coast Dance has professional floating sprung floors in both studios.

Classes do not include formal bathroom breaks, however dancers are free to use the bathroom as needed during class. All dancers should use the bathroom before class so they do not miss out on important exercises or techniques. Short water breaks are given at varied frequencies as needed. Parents of students ages 7 and under are responsible for making sure their students have used the restroom and are ready to attend class.

To ensure quality instruction and a focused, productive class environment, class sizes are capped at 10-12 students depending on the class type and the age of the dancers.

Dancers should come dressed in their dance clothes, and bring their dance shoes. Please refer to the Dress Code page here for the required clothing, footwear, and hair requirements specific to each class. Please make sure you bring a water bottle, and if you have multiple classes back to back, a non-messy snack may be a good idea as well.

For billing related questions, you may contact us via email at: info@catchthedancewave.com, or by phone at (541) 698-8223.

Ballet is the foundation of a dancer’s training, and although it is the recommended place to start, it doesn’t have to be. There may be another genre or style of dance that is more appealing to your dancer. Many of our dancers train in multiple styles of dance. If your dancer is unsure where to start, consider taking advantage of our 2 for $20 intro offer. Choose two classes for your dancer to try, and get a studio t-shirt for only $20.
